President Donald Trump demanded that the Hamas terrorist organization accept his terms to return the remaining Israeli hostages on Sunday and gave his “last warning” to the Iran-backed terrorist group.
In a Sunday statement on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Everyone wants the Hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end! The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well.”
“I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting,” Trump added. “This is my last warning, there will not be another one! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
According to CNN, Trump told reporters on Friday that Hamas is believed to still have approximately 20 Israeli hostages who remain alive. CNN reported that the Israeli government believes that Hamas also has the bodies of 27 deceased hostages.
“It’s 20 people but I think of the 20 there could be some that have recently died is what I’m hearing. I hope that’s wrong,” Trump told reporters. “We know that at least 30 people are dead, and we are negotiating to get them out.”
The president confirmed that his administration is “in very deep negotiations with Hamas” regarding the return of the final Israeli hostages; however, he noted that there is a “tough situation” ahead with regard to the ongoing negotiations.
Trump said, “When you get down to the final 10 or 20, you’re not gonna get them out unless you’re gonna do a lot and doing a lot means capitulation.”
The president’s warning to Hamas comes as Israel has expanded its military operations in the Gaza region. In a Sunday post on X, formerly Twitter, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli military was “deepening the maneuver on the outskirts of the city of Gaza, and within the city of Gaza.”
The prime minister confirmed that the Israeli Defense Forces were “eliminating” some of the Hamas terrorists responsible for the attack against Israel on October 7, 2023.
In a statement on X, Avichay Adraee, an Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson, warned residents in a portion of Gaza City to evacuate the area in anticipation of an Israeli airstrike over the weekend.
“The Defense Army will attack the building soon due to the presence of Hamas terrorist infrastructure inside or near it,” Adraee tweeted. “For your safety, you are required to evacuate building immediately southward toward the humanitarian zone in Mawasi Khan Younis.”
