West Virginia National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom, 20, died on Thursday evening from wounds she sustained during an ambush shooting near the White House.
“She’s no longer with us,” President Donald Trump said. “This just happened. She was savagely attacked. She’s dead.”
The shooter was identified as Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal.
“The suspect is an Afghan national flown here by the previous Admin... We have no greater national security priority than ensuring that we have full control over the people that enter and remain in our country. For the most part, we don’t want them," Trump added.
This is breaking news that will be updated as more information becomes available.
