President Donald Trump shared new details regarding the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event at the White House that is being planned as part of the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary next summer.
While hosting the Kennedy Center Honors, Trump was asked what he would like to see featured at the Kennedy Center as part of the 250th anniversary of the United States next year. In response, the president said, “We’re gonna have a lot of events. You know, one of the things you’re gonna have here is some of the UFC press. You have the fighters coming over, talking about the fights. It’s a big deal.”
“They’re building an arena. The great Dana White [is] building an arena, and they’re going to have eight or nine championship fights, the biggest fights they’ve ever had,” Trump added. “Every one’s a championship fight, and every one’s a legendary type of fight.”
In preparation for next year’s UFC event honoring America’s 250th anniversary, Trump told reporters that the UFC CEO, who endorsed the president during the 2024 presidential election, is “holding back fights” for roughly six months so that the fights can take place in conjunction with the 250th anniversary celebration.
“I think 250 is going to be amazing,” Trump said. “I think the arena is going to be five or six thousand seats right in front of the door of the White House, and 100,000 people in the back, where they’re putting up eight or 10 very big screens. That’s going to be an exciting night. So many people are asking for tickets.”
According to The Post Millennial, Trump also confirmed on Sunday that the UFC event is currently scheduled to take place on June 14, which is Flag Day and the president’s 80th birthday.
“I don’t think there’ll be anything like it,” Trump stated, according to The Post Millennial. “It’ll be on Sunday night, June 14, [on] Flag Day. It happens to be my birthday, but I didn’t do it for that reason. ‘Sir, we like the June 14 date.’ I said, ‘Yeah, that’s my birthday.’ They didn’t know it. But they picked it. I’ll take a little heat on that, but it’s not that.”
