274 undercover FBI agents were secretly embedded in Jan 6 riot crowd

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel confirmed on Saturday that 274 plainclothes agents were “thrown into crowd control” at the U.S. Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. 

Patel told Fox News that FBI agents were “sent into a crowd control mission” after the Metro Police declared that the protest against the congressional certification of former President Joe Biden’s election victory on Capitol Hill was a riot. Patel explained that the mission “goes against FBI standards” and that former FBI Director Christopher Wray was not transparent regarding the FBI’s role on January 6.

“This was the failure of a corrupt leadership that lied to Congress and to the American people about what really happened,” Patel told Fox News. “Thanks to agents coming forward, we are now uncovering the truth. We are fully committed to transparency, and justice and accountability continues with this FBI.”

Sharing the Fox News article in a post on X, formerly Twitter, Patel noted that 274 FBI agents were “thrown into crowd control on Jan 6 against FBI standards.”

An anonymous FBI official told Fox News that while there is no indication that FBI agents were involved in the events that preceded the Capitol Hill protest, including Trump’s speech at a major rally in Washington, D.C., Wray should have informed Congress that FBI agents were dispatched to Capitol Hill on January 6 during his testimony before congressional leaders.

According to Fox News, when asked about the FBI’s role in the January 6 Capitol Hill protest, Wray previously told Congress, “If you are asking if the violence at the Capitol was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources or agents, the answer is no.”

In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump said, “It was just revealed that the FBI had secretly placed, against all Rules, Regulations, Protocols, and Standards, 274 FBI Agents into the Crowd just prior to, and during, the January 6th Hoax. This is different from what Director Christopher Wray stated, over and over again! That’s right, as it now turns out, FBI Agents were at, and in, the January 6th Protest, probably acting as Agitators and Insurrectionists, but certainly not as ‘Law Enforcement Officials.’”

The president indicated that he wants to know the identities of the agents dispatched by the FBI and what they were doing on January 6. 

“Many Great American Patriots were made to pay a very big price only for the love of their Country,” Trump wrote. “I owe this investigation of ‘Dirty Cops and Crooked Politicians’ to them!”

“Christopher Wray, the then Director of the FBI, has some major explaining to do,” Trump added. “That’s two in a row, Comey and Wray, who got caught LYING, with our Great Country at stake. WE CAN NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN TO AMERICA AGAIN!”
